The Statecraft International Security (IS) Simulation is an intense, addictive virtual experience in which students experience the drama of high-stakes national security issues firsthand. They’ll be grouped into countries, and as world leaders they must work together both to advance their countries’ more narrow interests and to deal with emerging international security crises. An array of cooperative, competitive, and secret country goals are carefully crafted to produce realistic security challenges that are very difficult to solve. It’s a complicated balancing act: how do they promote their own country’s interests while maintaining alliances, dealing with rising powers, and confronting domestic political and resource constraints?

Students will be challenged by the simulation events as well as their classmates which creates an active learning environment where real learning happens. They’ll conclude with a new understanding of International Security course concepts plus a deep appreciation for the challenges of world leadership, especially when it comes to security strategy and decision-making.

Instructors report that the IS Simulation is the most heated Statecraft Simulation and many consider it the most fun. Experience it for yourself! Book a demo here >>

International Organizations: IO Simulation
Statecraft International Organizations (IO) Game Screenshot on Mobile Phone

The International Organizations (IO) Simulation demonstrates just how challenging it is to work in the global arena striving for international consensus. Students are grouped into country teams where they become the world leaders striving to achieve individual country goals along with both competitive and collaborative world goals AND secret goals that mean each country has a hidden agenda. They’ll attempt to solve serious world crisis situations and feel the frustrations of trying to work through an organization such as the U.N. Even if they do reach an agreement, how is that enforced? Who really is responsible for maintaining world order? Can they actually trust the other countries to uphold their end of the agreements?

As they grapple with these big International Organization dilemmas they’re also concurrently attempting to care for their own citizens, balancing both domestic and international factors. Questions will arise that become prime teachable opportunities as students experience course concepts firsthand in a personal, emotional way.

The Statecraft IO Simulation empowers you to transform your class into an immersive, unforgettable learning experience you’ll enjoy just as much as your students. Book a demo here >>

U.S. Foreign Policy Simulation
Statecraft Foreign Policy Phone Screen

The U.S. Foreign Policy Simulation casts a bright spotlight on policymaking processes and the links between U.S. domestic and international politics. Students are surprised when events in Syria, a seemingly minor world player, cause a major upheaval that requires decisions with far-reaching ramifications. As a major global player in an interconnected world, the U.S. cannot separate its own security and prosperity from conditions overseas. At the same time, U.S. policymakers face domestic political constraints; politics does not “stop at the water’s edge.” Students will grapple with this complex mix of constraints and opportunities on a very personal level through this simulation.

Your students take on the roles of members of Congress, executive branch officials, and members of the media and interest groups. Over the course of five weeks they’ll attempt to advance their virtual “career” while navigating the U.S. political system and crises overseas. Events in the simulation will challenge them to contemplate important questions: How do we play a responsible leadership role in this connected world? How do we care for and protect our own citizens when we also have obligations and responsibilities to help maintain security in the entire world? It’s both overwhelming and exciting; your students will be quickly sucked into the game and finish with a much deeper understanding of U.S. Foreign Policy course concepts. Experience it yourself!
